Bostanci
January 2012 • The photos—hundreds of them—were scattered around a busy traffic intersection in the Bostanci district of Istanbul. Why their rude dispersal? Was it an accident? ... family quarrel? ... estate clearance? Dodged traffic for 10 minutes trying to salvage the most interesting ones. A few other passersby also picked some up. Together we searched for clues on the back. Years were written on most, but not many names. These people seem kind. I want to know more about the baby bath, the beach picnic, the Christmas toast, the statue. Hope they don't mind if I give them another shot at immortality. Thanks to Andy for the scans, to Eva for showing me how to appreciate other people's pictures, and to Tayfun Serttas for his extraordinary, inspiring Foto Galatasaray project: http://tayfunserttas.com/works/2427/
