Namib-Naukluft National Park

June 2000 • Almost blew off going to the Namib Desert because I thought it would be too touristy. Sakkie and Anri gently said I was being an idiot, so I signed up for a tour led by Willem, who proved through sheer force of personality that package tours don't always suck. He took our small group on a sunrise-to-sunset hike across the dunes that will forever be the gold standard, no matter where I go in this world.
